Reconstruction as delayed evaluation

چکیده
Winter, and an anonymous referee. Special thanks to Pauline Jacobson for extensive and incisive discussion. The analysis presented in this paper is a modest extension of joint work with Chung-chieh Shan (see Shan and Barker 2006 and Barker and Shan 2006), and many of the insights developed here are due to conversations with Shan. However, I have drawn conclusions here that Shan may not necessarily endorse. Therefore I will speak of " our analysis " , meaning Shan and Barker (2006), but I will express opinions about the interpretation of that analysis in the first person singular. Finally, I must acknowledge my debt to David Dowty. On one level, this paper explores the idea that pronouns are scope-taking elements, an unusual idea also proposed by Dowty in, e.g., Dowty (2007). But the true debt goes far, far deeper: for evidence, argumentation, explicitness, scholarship, intuition, depth, and lasting insight, David's work remains my inspiration, my model, my touchstone for recognizing genuine semantics.

متن کاملBREAST RECONSTRUCTION USING TRAM FLAP: PROSPECTIVE OUTCOME AND COMPLICATIONS
ABSTRACT Background: The transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap remains the gold standard for postmastectomy reconstruction either immediate or delayed. However, transfer of TRAM flap can be associated with donor site morbidities and complications in flap. A successful reconstruction consists of careful patient selection, surgical technique and meticulous preoperative plannin...
متن کاملDelayed versus Delayed-Immediate Autologous Breast Reconstruction: A Blinded Evaluation of Aesthetic Outcomes
BACKGROUND The technique of delayed-immediate breast reconstruction includes immediate insertion of a tissue expander, post-mastectomy radiation, followed by reconstruction. The aesthetic benefits of delayed-immediate reconstruction compared to delayed reconstruction are postulated but remain unproven. The purpose of this study was to compare aesthetic outcomes in patients following delayed and...
